Adam Mitchell

The intern who turned the TARDIS into a failed work experience program.

Character Overview

Adam Mitchell, played by Bruno Langley, is the poster child for why the Doctor should probably do background checks before letting people on board. Introduced in Dalek (2005), Adam was a bright but slightly slimy genius working under Henry van Statten. Rose, thinking he looked “cute” (and possibly hoping for a TARDIS double-date), convinced the Doctor to bring him along.

Bad idea.

Within five minutes of stepping into the future (The Long Game), Adam decided the best use of infinite time and space wasn’t saving civilizations or exploring alien cultures, but sneaking future tech back home so he could get rich. His master plan? Install a data port in his forehead (ouch) and smuggle information into voicemail. Subtle.

Naturally, the Doctor caught him. Adam was unceremoniously booted back to his mum’s house, forehead port still intact — a permanent reminder that he’d flunked Companion School harder than anyone else in Who history.

Adam remains unique: the one “official” companion who was basically fired. A cautionary tale for anyone who thinks the TARDIS is an interstellar get-rich-quick scheme.
