The Faceless Ones

The story where airport security is terrifying, alien body snatchers exist, and the Doctor just wants to catch a plane in peace.

Short Synopsis

The Doctor, Jamie, Ben, and Polly land near a bustling airport — which immediately becomes a nightmare of missing people, identity theft, and evil aliens. The sinister Chameleons are here, stealing humans to use as body doubles for their evil galactic schemes. Jamie and the gang must stop them before the whole world is replaced by… well, slightly creepier humans.

Extended Storyline

The adventure begins innocuously enough at Gatwick Airport (or, at least, a 1960s version of it — complete with giant clunky luggage trolleys and charmingly slow escalators). The Doctor’s curiosity is piqued when he notices passengers disappearing without a trace. Jamie, Ben, and Polly are quickly roped in to investigate because, apparently, the TARDIS has no “quiet corner for tea” option.

It turns out the missing passengers are being abducted by the Chameleons — aliens with a flair for paperwork and evil HR policies. Their plan? Clone humans to replace the originals so they can carry out nefarious intergalactic plots. It’s basically a corporate takeover, but with more sinister intent and fewer coffee breaks.

Ben and Polly start tailing suspicious figures through the airport, all while Jamie gets trapped in a storage room and attempts to escape by demonstrating his world-class running and yelling skills. Meanwhile, the Doctor sneaks around, disguises himself as various airport personnel, and gleefully outwits anyone who underestimates the power of a clever Scottish Time Lord.

The Chameleons’ lair is revealed to be conveniently located inside the airport’s hangar, filled with futuristic cloning equipment that looks suspiciously like repurposed filing cabinets. Jamie, Ben, and Polly help the Doctor sabotage the machinery, while the Doctor delivers some of his finest monologues about “identity, humanity, and why you should never trust your travel agent.”

Chaos ensues as cloned humans run amok, the real humans are rescued, and the Doctor uses his signature mix of intellect, luck, and wildly gesticulating hands to defeat the aliens. Just when it seems all is well, the Chameleons get one last sly move in — but, naturally, they are foiled at the final second. The Doctor, Jamie, Ben, and Polly return to the TARDIS, slightly frazzled but mostly smug, ready to take off before airport security can confiscate the sonic screwdriver for “suspicious beeping.”
