“Never trust the pretty blondes, especially when they come with their own killer Roombas.”
Short Synopsis
The Doctor, Vicki, and Steven land on a planet that’s basically the universe’s worst Airbnb: barren landscape, hostile locals, and a ticking clock before it explodes. Two alien races are stranded there — the glamorous Drahvins, who seem nice but really aren’t, and the monstrous-looking Rills, who seem evil but are actually big, slimy sweethearts. Meanwhile, the Chumblies — little waddling robots that look like pepper pots crossed with dustbins — do their best to steal the show.
Extended Storyline
The TARDIS gang shows up, pokes around a bit, and discovers that the planet has only a few days left before it blows up like a cheap firework. Naturally, two alien groups are stranded, and only one spaceship has a chance of escaping.
The Drahvins — a bunch of icy blonde space warriors led by their grumpy commander Maaga — immediately play the “we’re victims, help us!” card. They paint the Rills as hideous monsters who deserve to be left behind. But when the Doctor and crew actually meet the Rills, they discover that the so-called monsters are polite, reasonable, and far less terrifying than their reputation (unless you’re squeamish about space-slime).
Oh, and then there are the Chumblies. Imagine wind-up toy robots whose big menacing trick is… slowly bumping into you. These are the Rills’ servants, and while they don’t exactly strike fear into the heart, they do manage to be both endearing and a bit useless — like the sci-fi version of a pug.
Naturally, the Doctor sees through the Drahvins’ lies, gives everyone a morality lecture about judging by appearances, and helps the Rills escape. The Drahvins, refusing to play nice, get left behind to enjoy the grand finale of the planet’s fiery destruction. Lesson learned: don’t be space racists.
