The Doctor gets a distress call from a planet of swirling misery and finds Tim Shaw — yes, tooth-face himself — back for revenge, bigger, badder, and even sulkier. Cue a battle that’s less “epic war” and more “awkward hostage situation with angry rocks.”
Short Synopsis
The TARDIS answers a call on Ranskoor Av Kolos, where the crew finds a wrecked ship, a pair of psychic engineers, and… Tim Shaw, last seen sulking in Episode 1, now ruling with a vengeance. He’s stolen powerful technology to trap entire planets as trophies. The Doctor has to stop him, Graham has to wrestle with vengeance, and Ryan finally decides to call Graham “Granddad.” Cue hugs, pew-pew, and a surprisingly tidy wrap-up.
Extended Storyline
The Doctor lands on Ranskoor Av Kolos, a planet that sounds terrifying but mostly looks like Wales with a smoke machine. Everyone on the planet goes a bit loopy thanks to psychic interference, so the Doctor hands out neural balancers like party favors.
They stumble on a wrecked ship and two survivors: Andinio and Delph, members of the Ux — a near-mythical duo of psychic engineers who can literally reshape reality with their minds. Unfortunately, they’ve been conned into serving Tim Shaw (still with the teeth, still with the vendetta), who has been using their powers to imprison entire planets in stasis crystals. Because apparently Thanos called and wanted his plotline back.
Tim Shaw, now scarred, battle-worn, and dressed like a rejected Power Rangers villain, has been nursing his grudge since Episode 1. He blames the Doctor for his downfall and wants revenge. Also, he’s built himself a planet-sized shrine to his own ego. He’s very on brand.
The Ux, believing he’s a god, have been helping him shrink worlds into tiny glass trinkets. The Doctor, horrified, realizes if he isn’t stopped, he’ll destabilize the entire universe. Classic “villain who didn’t think this through.”
Meanwhile, Graham is privately struggling. Tim Shaw killed Grace back in Sheffield. And now here’s his chance for revenge. He tells the Doctor he’s going to kill him. The Doctor is Not Amused — murder is against the rules, thank you very much. Graham, however, is dead serious. Cue tense stares.
As the climax unfolds:
-
The Doctor frees the Ux from Tim Shaw’s control, giving them a stern “Don’t worship genocidal tooth men” talk.
-
Ryan backs Graham up, showing how far their relationship has come. He insists that Grace wouldn’t want revenge. Graham, torn but strong, finally decides not to kill Tim Shaw — but does trap him in stasis, ensuring he’s punished without bloodshed.
-
The Doctor and the Ux reverse Tim Shaw’s stolen planet-tech, carefully restoring the worlds he imprisoned. (No tiny alien civilizations were harmed in the making of this finale.)
In the end, Tim Shaw is defeated, Graham has chosen mercy, and Ryan finally calls him “Granddad.” Graham nearly bursts into tears, and honestly, so do we. The TARDIS team leaves the Ux to rebuild their lives and heads off for more adventures. Roll credits.
