Revenge of the Cybermen

When your local vicar is the Master in disguise, it’s time to find a new parish.

Short Synopsis

The Doctor, Sarah, and Harry land back on Nerva Beacon, only to find the place crawling with Cybermen. The metal men want to wipe out the Vogans, whose entire planet is made of gold — you know, the stuff that clogs Cyber-circuits like cosmic cholesterol.

Extended Storyline

Having just wrapped up Genesis of the Daleks, the Doctor transmats the crew back to Nerva Space Station — which is, of course, suddenly plagued by death, pestilence, and bad lighting. The surviving crewmen reveal that the Cybermen are back (because apparently they hadn’t embarrassed themselves enough in the ’60s).

The Cybermen, now sporting shinier but oddly flared designs, have decided the best way to get revenge on their mortal weakness is to wipe out the Vogans, who are basically space dwarves living in a planet made of gold. Yes, the Cybermen’s grand strategy involves taking on an enemy who literally sweat their one allergy. Bravo.

Down on Voga, the locals are divided. Some want to fight, others just want to mine gold in peace, and most of them seem to enjoy bickering in caves. The Doctor, naturally, gets stuck in the middle of it, while Sarah gets kidnapped (again), and Harry accidentally triggers danger because… well, that’s Harry.

The Cybermen plan to crash Nerva into Voga, because apparently the height of their strategic genius is “space kamikaze.” The Doctor, with his usual mix of wit and scarf-flailing, manages to sabotage them, and the Cybermen go boom once again — not exactly avenged, but certainly exploded.

The story ends with the TARDIS team heading off on another adventure, while the Cybermen go back into hibernation until the next revivalist wave of “Hey, let’s try them again, maybe this time they’ll be scary.”
